Dear Rotarian Friends.
Summer has just finished and I hope that you had a relaxing Summer together with your families and friends.
Normally Summer is a quiet period as far as Rotary Life is concerned with Convivials taking place during the months of July, August and September.
We have however had a very pleasant surprise. Marcus Honney brought to our attention this opportunity of obtaining, for free, sailing boats with sails and keels from one of our ex Rotarian Members. In true Rotarian Spirit and after some frantic efforts by Sue Simmons, we eventually found the Viking Sail Club who were interested in the sailing boats.
The opportunity was also taken to involve Dar il Kaptan for the sailing boats to be used by handicapped youngsters using the Respite facilities at Dar il Kaptan.
A great Team effort by all involved.
We now look forward to our Autumn Schedule of Rotary Meetings and Events.
Which commences on Monday 3rd October with our first Speaker’s Meeting who is The Australian High Commissioner to Malta. Her Excellency Ms Jenny Cartmill will talk to us about ‘How Rotary changed Her life ‘and the opportunities given to Her as an exchange student to Japan after She finished High School.
On Friday 14th we have a visit from Rotary Club Ouest Strasbourg which will coincide with an Exhibition of images by photographer Richard Ellis capturing Malta 150 years ago. More details will follow closer to the date.
Monday 24th is World Polio Day and Rotarian Lino Cutajar will be giving us a talk about Polio on this very important day.
Activities for October will end on Monday 31st with our Convivial.
Our AGM is scheduled for Monday 14th November.
In the meantime, the Board and myself are working on the program for the rest of the Year which will culminate in the Fund-Raising Dinner scheduled for end April/ mid-May.
May I take the opportunity to remind you all that this is a very important event and I expect all Members to do your utmost to attend this Event.
Dear friends, Rotary Club Malta is a great Club. It cannot, however be so without the input and support of ALL the members.
Let me therefore take the opportunity of asking you for your support in ensuring that Our Club remains Great.
Thank you.
