Rotary Club Malta's project that lead to the building of the Rotary Malta Primary School in Uganda has been featured in the worldwide Rotary Magazine.
The April 2023 edition of the Rotary Magazine has featured Rotary Club Malta's school building project in Uganda among 5 projects in the "Rotary Projects Around the Globe" section authored by Brad Webber. The Rotary Magazine is published every month by Rotary International and is distributed among the Rotary community worldwide. Individual regional editions of the Rotary Magazine are also published.
The Rotary Malta Parents Primary School in the village of Kankuji, in the District of Luwero, Uganda is providing education to over 450 local children.
The project is a result of an investment by Rotary Club Malta of over €130,000, of which €75,000 was provided by the Government of Malta’s Overseas Development Aid fund, managed by the Maltese Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and Trade, and the rest was funded through fund-raising activities by the Club. The Club did not rely on any grants from the Rotary Foundation for this project but rather made use of other funding opportunities available to it.
This is the second school in Uganda built by Rotary Club Malta in Uganda and the Club's fourth project in the country.
When Rotary projects have an impact in the communities we serve it is important for us to obtain the visibility to enable those in need of assistance to reach out to the resources of Rotary around the world and for others to be motivated to carry out valuable and sustainable projects.
