A spectacular evening of dining, dancing, and generosity supports local and international initiatives and raises EUR 29,000.
On the 28th of April, Rotary Club Malta celebrated its 56th anniversary with a dazzling Annual Charity Gala Fund-Raising Dinner Dance at the InterContinental's Cettina De Cesare Hall in St. Julian's. The event, which attracted Rotarians and non-Rotarians alike, raised€12.000 with over €29,000 collected so far to fund the building of a Cold Room at Dar il-Kaptan, a respite home for disabled people in Malta. The evening's success marks another milestone in the club's long history of community service both locally and internationally.
The Gala Dinner commenced with a welcome drink and canapés at 7.30 pm, followed by a sumptuous dinner at 8.15 pm. Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed free-flowing wine and water as they mingled in an upbeat and friendly atmosphere. The black-tie affair featured exclusive raffle prizes, a silent auction, and a live auction of paintings donated by some of Malta's leading artists.
The art auction was a highlight of the night, showcasing works by renowned local talents such as Mark Pullicino, Isabel Warrington, Michelle Gialanze, Pawl Carbonaro, Marisa Attard, Kenneth Zammit Tabona, Henry Alamango, Alfie Gatt, and Madeline Gera. The generous artists donated their pieces free of charge, and the auctioneer waived the customary 15% fee, ensuring that all proceeds would contribute directly to the Cold Room project at Dar il-Kaptan.
Among the event's most prominent contributors was Demajo Wines and Spirits which generously donated €6,000.
During the year, the Club raised other funds to support local and international initiatives such as the eradication of polio, disaster relief efforts in Italy, and Turkey, and support for the Ukrainian refugees in Malta.,
Beyond fundraising, Rotary Club Malta's members are actively involved in various community projects. They volunteer at the Soup Kitchen, providing lunches and packed suppers throughout the year, and assist with the Food Bank by packing food bags. The club also sponsors the Hospice Project and supports local organizations like the Vikings Sailing Club.
The Annual Charity Gala Fund-Raising Dinner Dance showcased the best of Rotary Club Malta's commitment to service and philanthropy. As the club moves into its 57th year, it remains dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those in need, both in Malta and around the world.
